Sorry about the Ninjitsu thing; it seems to attract more than it's share of questionable students. Must be all those Sho Kosugi movies in the 80s.... There seems to be a theme in the FMA's of flooding the seminar student with far more info than they can handle at the time, hence "drinking from the firehose". At first, it really turned me off, because I felt like a dork every time I attended a seminar. Then I started to recognize movements; my body was saying "Hey, I've seen this before." Seminars are all over the country, by any number of instructors, and are announced here pretty often. Some are focused on one aspect of an art; others lump Kali together with Jeet Kun Do, Silat, and other arts. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) I guess this is a great chance for folks to post their upcoming seminars and websites where seminars are listed...? I suggest we quietly allow all participants, including the email writer, to repair any rift among each other brought about by the email, especially unfortunate since the original intention of Messrs. Roiles, Agbulos and Mosqueda was to get together for friendship and camaraderie. Jay de Leon al sardinas wrote: hits. Earlwin can you provide more details on where and when the strikes landed from both masters? Did any of the masters called the match a largo mano match? Cogie, please divulge the something that you would speak. We are in the middle of some cold months so some flames (which just may be some intelligent thought) would be inviting now. What do you do when your instructor has quit but is still there? What I mean is, what do you do when he just seems to become more interested in the money and less in the art. And all of a sudden he loses his sense of values. I have been training for many years. One of my instructors has done this. And the worst of it is he has done a couple of things I disagree with morally. I feel a sense of loyalty to him and therefore have stood by him. But it does bother me. Quiting the art is not a possibility for me. It has become a part of who I am. It lives in my soul. Just curious if you have any thoughts on this. Oh, and Sonny, just curious, are you related to Tim Padilla, the accordian player? Have a great New Year! The so called match you speak of was nothing more than a friendly game of timing and was NEVER intended to be a competition between two styles. But more of an example of our ideal sparring style." Thanks Jason that clarifies everything. This information makes my questions null. I fell for the bait I should have waited before I wrote my email. But more of an example of our ideal sparring style." All too often people go to meet and exacnge ideas and afterwards it becomes a bragging point that someone got in a few shots. All it does is force more people to stay insular and not train with others. Marc __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
