It's looooong been out of print. The only available copies that I know of now are in the University library, plus some that are in the private collections of local practitioners. It's written in Tagalog. Now, there's been news going around that a translated version is supposed to be in the works, I think that's the one from Charles Tuttle. Apart from that, no other news even about whether the project pushed through, etc. Bot --- Pete Sampogna wrote: > Does anyone know why I can't find this book ISBN > 0804831572 > > Pete Sampogna > _______________________________________________ > Eskrima mailing list, 1700 members > Eskrima@martialartsresource.net > Copyright 1994-2003: Ray Terry and Martial Arts > Resource > Standard disclaimers apply > http://martialartsresource.net/mailman/listinfo/eskrima __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Regarding silat practice, my guru in the art teaches southern Philippine silat as a martial art and occasionally inludes drills from olahraga as supplementary material to develop particular attributes. If he is interested in this, please email me privately. I would like to get to know your friend first, such as who he is, what he does, etc. There are other groups here also: there is the Philippine branch of the Keluargan Pencak Silat Nusantara (KPS Nusantara), located at the Don Bosco school in Mandaluyong City. The instructor here is a Filipino student of Guru O'ong Sumaryono. In addition, the Indonesian embassy has a class going in Merpatih Puti silat (White dove silat). This group stresses conditioning, such s toughening the arms, legs, etc. For the more meditative side (which includes fundamentals for defense too) there is the Tetada Kalimasada group, a branch of which is in the UP Vanguard Building, 3rd floor (not sure about the schedules, Tuesday and Thursday nights, I think). He can check out these groups, they're easily visited. For our group, please email me privately, and we can talk some more there. Regards, Bot P.S. Silat in the Philippines is not referred to as pencak silat or pentjak silat, but simply as silat. --- Leo Salinel wrote: > A friend of mine is interested in training in > Pentjak > Silat here in Manila, Philippines. I've tried to get the book at least once a year since and keep getting "no such book available" back, so it would appear there wasn't :-( Bill --__--__-- Message: 9 From: "Fred O" To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net Date: Mon, 01 Dec 2003 15:18:58 +0000 Subject: [Eskrima] KK yet again Reply-To: eskrima@martialartsresource.net I'm no the one to ask origanally, but I gotta ask now. I understand that KK stands for Krabi Krabong, my only question is how long are the sticks. Also the only demo I have ever seen of KK is from the James Bond movie, You only live twice, where can I pick up demo tapes? I would like to see what this is all about. Fred C.
