Forget the author right now, but an Amazon search ought to turn it up. Some of the BB supplement companies have recovery products out there. It's a big "buyer beware" market - go with what the book says first and read labels carefully. There's some stuff on the web about the uselessness of sports drinks that's good reading for the educated consumer. Surprisingly, a Gatorage rip-off made by Sam's club had the component's listed in that book (potassium, selenium, magnesium, all the little -um's). I don't know if they make it anymore, though. I myself use a GNC product called "Distance" mainly because it's easy to get in Hawaii. For weight lifting workouts, that and a mixed Casein and Whey protein helps me. If you're doing both lifting and FMA, try scheduling your workouts so that you don't swing the stick until a day or so after your lifting workout. Hope that helps, Andy On Sun, 7 Sep 2003 16:30:17 -0400 (EDT) gordon walker writes: > Hi, > I am hurting today. > I would appreciate any ideas for dealing with lactic acid buildup > after workouts. Generally the returned email is from an address that you don't recognize, with the message that the email (with .pif attachment) is unanswerable due to a virus in the attachment. This is most probably due to a worm that infects other computers (with your email address in their databases), which then send infected emails to another address using your address as a bogus address. The "undeliverable" response is often bounced back to you as a result from the addressee. The best response is simply not to open email from addresses that you don't recognize, ESPECIALLY if they contain attachments. The SoBig-F worm is due to expire in a couple days, so hopefully the problem will subside. I found that I got far fewer "undelivable" emails after using a combination of Lavasoft's "Ad-Aware" progrom, (which wipes your computer of small programs that can send information to marketers), Norton Anti-Virus, and a firewall. Certainly there are sophisticated ways to protect yourself - if someone with more computer-security expertise is listening, I would appreciate some advice on the matter. First, with the trend of manufacture of the fencing masks tending towards ever heavier, many of the current masks have large zones of substantial protection, thus leading to unsound habits. Thus it may come as a surprise to a fighter when he gets hit in a zone that offers little protection." The answer for us was to train as hard as you could take without gear. It is a sobering experience. The advantage is however, a greater appreciation of controling range, and the added side-effect of being able to freely train the whole continuim from long range stick to grappling without the gloves and fencing mask getting in the way. ""Second, in my opinion is that there is a tendency at the moment to bypass the rigorous training methods that yield sound defensive skills."" As to the second point I can pass on an anecdote from Island Dog. Jeff C and I were fully geared and bashing ourselves to death with the heaviest clubs we could find. We asked Island Dog what he thought. He replied..."Gee...I see a lot of offence but not enough defense"... So that leads back to point one. You strip the gear and go back to basics. Carlton H.
